Dr. Kaufman earned his medical degree from State University of New York, Downstate. He has been involved in medical records review throughout most of his professional career. In 1989, he became Medical Director of the healthcare consulting firm, Birch and Davis. He participated in the winning bid for External Peer Review Program, an assessment of all the VA hospitals in the nation. In 2003, Dr. Kaufman accepted the position of President and CEO of LowRad Corporation, a pharmaceutical company making a radioprotective agent. He also became the medical director of a healthcare consulting company, Logical Technical Services Corporation.
