Redefining Pilates with her innovative, distinct teaching approach, Erika Bloom is today’s most qualified, premier fitness expert. Erika’s unique teaching method is based on using her superior education and experience to customize sessions for optimum results instead of using the "one-size-fits-all" approach.
Erika has been studying Pilates for over 15 years, and teaching Pilates privately to those in-the-know in New York City for the last nine years, building a loyal client base who range from athletes and dancers to celebrities, as well as those young, old, injured and healthy. Erika is revered for her signature teaching method, a technique inspired by 10 years of performing internationally as a professional dancer with various ballet and modern dance companies, and perfected with a unique education background.
Long before Pilates became a fitness craze, Erika already had years of experience under her belt. She started professional level dance training at the age of 12 where she was introduced to Pilates to increase strength and flexibility and to help with injuries that threatened to prematurely end her dance career. Seeking the cause and treatment of her ailments, Erika spent years going from specialist to specialist, all who had a different diagnosis and treatment recommendation - one more extreme than the next. When Erika came to New York City to train at the prestigious Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, she was finally properly diagnosed with disc pressure from scoliosis and found relief from a specialist who studied alternative body work in Europe. Frustrated that it took years, and many visits to many specialists to finally be properly diagnosed, Erika began asking herself, "Why doesn’t anyone know how to take care of the body?".
